Petition for appropriate train services
    Bristol based services:
  • Swindon - Chippenham - Melksham - Trowbridge - Westbury
  • Portsmouth - Southampton - Salisbury - Bath - Bristol - Cardiff
  • Bristol - Severn Beach
  • Weymouth - Yeovil - Frome - Westbury - Bath - Bristol
  • Taunton - Weston-super-mare - Bristol - Gloucester - Cheltenham
  • Cheltenham - Gloucester - Stroud - Swindon
And all intermediate stations.

The services on all these line were decimated on 10th December 2006 by First Great Western acting under the SLC2 specification laid down by the Department for Transport.

The changes have caused a drastic reduction in the number of services on many lines, and a drastic cut in the length of many remaining trains. The remaining trains are often overcrowded, frequently late, and regularly cancelled. Many journeys that were possible and popular before are no longer possible.

Please help our campaign for a restoration of an appropriate service level on ALL of these routes by:
  1. 1. Petitioning the Prime Minister via the official No. 10 Web site - HERE
  2. 2. Telling friends, family and (especially) other travellers about this web site and the petition at http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/wessextrains/
  3. 3. Writing to the key players to tell them your concerns and views.
See who else had signed up to last night

When the petition closes on 7th February, it is considered by the Prime Minister's office and a response is emailed to all signatories. I can't promise what the answer will be, but the more people who sign, the better the chance we have of returning to a service that's appropriate for purpose, now and for the future.
