From Wiltshire Council:

Free Trial of New Salisbury Park & Ride

To celebrate the opening of Salisbury’s brand new Petersfinger Park & Ride site people are being given the opportunity to try it for free.

From Tuesday (June 1), people will be able to park their cars at the site, on Southampton Road A36, and ride the buses into the centre of Salisbury.

To mark the opening, Wiltshire Council is offering people the chance to try the service for free as many times as they want from June 1 to 5. Normally, the service costs  £2.50 for all day parking and bus use for up to seven people including the driver.

Petersfinger is the fifth and final park and ride site, completing the ring of sites surrounding the city.

The aim behind the park and ride project is to reduce the number of cars entering Salisbury, improve air quality, reduce congestion and help protect the historic city.

Buses leave the Petersfinger site from 7.30am on weekdays and 8am on Saturdays and they run every 12 to 15 minutes, making it ideal for commuters, tourists and shoppers.

The last bus departs from the city at 7.10pm on weekdays and 6.30pm on Saturdays.

Cabinet member with responsibility for highways, Dick Tonge, said: “The Park & Ride is an investment for Salisbury’s future. It has cost a great deal of money but is part of a strategy to reduce the number of cars entering the city and make it a more pleasant place for tourists and shoppers alike. We hope that this free offer will show drivers how easy it is to use.”
