Line closed for 9 days in August
« on: July 14, 2009, 03:24:08 PM »

I couldn't see the link elsewhere, but the line from Trowbridge to Chippenham will be closed for engineering between 1st - 9th August.

Anyone aware of the reasons?

Looks like a major relaying job (lots of new rails in the section past Melksham station).   No bad thing in the longer term, but the interim arrangements for the 10 days are even less considerate of the travellers than the rail ones .... one bus a day from Swindon at 05:20 (another from Chippenham at 18:30) and no provision at all for the growing cycling community ...
