Work For Liverpool Lime Street Passengers On Track
« on: August 19, 2008, 11:41:36 AM »

Work is starting on a £3.4m scheme to improve facilities for rail passengers using Liverpool's Lime Street station (link below.)

Two new passenger lounges, an information point, three shops and railway staff accommodation are being built in the Network Rail scheme.

The new facilities will be built on the old cab road between platforms seven and eight, which used to be used by Royal Mail vehicles and black cabs.

The facilities will mostly serve long-distance travellers.

The development is part of a programme of work at Lime Street.

Preparation work has begun on the Lime Street Gateway project which will unmask the listed Victorian frontage of the station.

Overall completion is scheduled for early 2010.
