Transport Aid For Rural Cumbria Residents

Communities in Cumbria are being given a transport lifeline with a subsidised travel scheme (link below.)

From Monday, residents in Barrow, Allerdale and Copeland can sign up to Rural Wheels, designed for areas where buses and trains are not accessible.

Under the initiative, taxi and minibus rides can be booked in advance, and cost 30p per mile.

Passengers will be picked up from their home and dropped off at their nearest bus or train depot.
