The £4m facility, which is the first of its kind in Scotland, features over 200m of full-size replica track and signals.

Up to 100 workers will be trained at any one time to maintain Scotland's 2,580 miles of track.

The centre, built on former railway sidings, is being opened by Education and Skills Secretary Fiona Hyslop.

Network Rail said the centre was in easy reach of more than 1,800 staff who maintain Scotland's rail infrastructure.
