Robert Key: To ask the Secretary of State for Transport how many of the
1,300 extra railway carriages referred to in the high-level output
statement published in 2007 have been  (a) ordered from manufacturers,
(b) delivered and  (c) brought into use.

Tom Harris (Parliamentary Under-Secretary, Department for Transport; Glasgow South, Labour)
There have been 317 vehicles ordered from manufacturers. The first of these units is due for delivery in October 2008.
