A more frequent hourly service between Carlisle and Leeds is proposed (link below.) http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/cumbria/7376985.stmNetwork Rail is also considering adding carriages to trains travelling to Sellafield to cope with the number of workers going to the plant. On the Settle to Carlisle line, passenger numbers are set to increase by 37% in the next 10 years. Along the Cumbrian coast, the increase in passenger numbers is expected to rise by 40%. Network Rail also intends to carry out extensive improvement work to track and platforms to cope with the extra trains. The outline plans will be confirmed later this year.
