Greater Manchester Scrapyard Fire Closes Line
« on: April 28, 2008, 07:54:22 PM »

A fire at a scrapyard has closed part of a railway line and several roads in Greater Manchester (link below.)

Firefighters called to the site on Meek Street in Higginshaw, Royton, on Sunday night found several cars on fire and acetylene cylinders nearby.

A temporary cordon has been put in place which includes the railway line between Oldham Mumps and Shaw.

Police said it was likely to remain closed for the rest of the day, until the cylinders had completely cooled.
