An MP has said train services in mid Wales are "appalling" and "shocking" after receiving more than 30 complaints from constituents over the past year (link below.)

Montgomeryshire MP Lembit Öpik said he has written to Arriva Trains following a "steady stream" of criticism.

Mike Bagshaw , commercial director for Arriva Trains Wales , said there were "inherent problems".

He added: "While we are working with Network Rail to address issues of congestion and lift speed restrictions on the line, the ability to deliver punctual train services will always be challenged by the limitations of the line, which is mainly single track."
