Wessex trains are running a BANK HOLIDAY service which means that the 05:52 to Swindon and 06:56 to Southampton will not run. First train - 07:45 to Swindon, and 09:12 to Southampton. At least we have these services - by next Christmas the first soutbound train looks likely to be the 18:09

Graham, when's this announcement valid for - just the day it was posted or indefinitely? The early train's one of my few options for getting to meetings in London on time on a weekday. Incidentally, noit sure if it's mentioned elsewhere but a lady from the District Council was doing a passenger survey one morning (and afternoon when I returned) at Melksham station a week or so ago. No idea why; my train arrived (on time!) just as she spoke to me.

Phil ... that applies to all Bank Holidays .... and also to the entire period from Christmas to the New Year. In other words, the 05:52 and 06:56 run on 23rd December, then they're suspended until 3rd January from when they run again.
Glad to hear / see the survey. There should also be IN TRAIN surveys coming up in order to help establish the traffic usage and not just people on the platform. That's NOT being organised by / through this site though; I could have assisted with that / helped set it up EXCEPT that if a survey was helped by / labelled with "SAVE THE TRAIN" it would look as if we were hoping to bias the outcome.
With these extra surveys and information gathering, I'm hopeful that we'll get further data with which to continue to approach the Department for Transport and also the winning bidder in order for them to be Melksham-aware and TransWilts-friendly as the service is fine tuned.
