New luxury hotel in Melksham
« on: October 28, 2006, 11:47:31 AM »

If anyone wonders what I do in the time I'm not here supporting the public transport connections of Wiltshire and pushing for appropriate levels of service ... well - I run training courses in niche computing subjects.  That's a story for another web site and you can catch up on my day to day life through my blog there.

Over 80% of our customers travel long distances to be trained in Melksham (hence the train interest - that's how many people have historically got here) and so need to stay in local accommodation during the week.   From a flood of hotels and B&Bs in 1999/2000, we've seen a shrinkage of places as landladies retire, places concentrate more on their restaurants, and (in one case) a hotel turns into a hostel for battered women.

So - three weeks ago now - we opened our own hotel. The primary intent is for it to provide a place for our course delegates to stay - and they require large rooms with workdesks, internet connection at all times, en-suite facilities, etc, so the accommodation is rather on the "luxury" end of the market.  But we are open to other visitors too when we're not full with a course ... and we'll continue to offer complimentary pickups from Melksham station at - let me see - 19:07 and return trips to catch the 07:17 as they will be from December.

Bedroom 4 ... all rooms are large, en-suite, doubles or twins

Bank Holiday Weekend Breaks, Melksham, Wiltshire

Well ... I'm delighted to be able to report that we're getting rave reviews for our hotel .... and that business guests who come during the week are enjoying it so much they're coming back with their partners at the weekend!

If you're looking for a quiet weekend in the countryside, Well House Manor may be an ideal base for you to choose.  If you travel down on the 17:30 on Friday evenings and change at Swidnon, we'll meet you off the 19:08 arrival ... and we'll drop you off form the 07:17 on Monday morning to get you back into Paddington for about 9.   And we have plenty of parking if you prefer to drive, and bus services for local journeys that stop right outside, every day of the week

We're also doing a Bank Holiday Special - Easter, May Day holiday, Spring Bank Holiday ...
