Historic Rail Carriage Unveiled
« on: January 31, 2008, 10:35:35 AM »

A replica of the railway carriage used by Queen Victoria to travel between Windsor and Ballater has been brought back to its Scottish destination (link below.)

The carriage, which was commissioned by VisitScotland at the suggestion of Prince Charles, was transported to the town's Old Royal Station by crane.

The original is kept in the National Railway Museum in York and is too fragile to be moved.

The historic saloon carriage will go on public display at Easter.

The £450,000 project has been funded by the European Regional Development Fund, Scottish Enterprise Grampian, VisitScotland, the Heritage Lottery Fund and FirstGroup.
