MPs Attack 'Greedy' Northern Rail
« on: January 24, 2008, 09:36:39 AM »

A train company has been branded "heartless and greedy" by MPs who have backed staff claiming they had pay docked after being attacked at work (link below.)

The RMT union claims Northern Rail only gives staff time off with full pay if they suffer "severe physical injury".

The company, which operates in the North East, Cumbria, Lancashire and Yorkshire, said its actions were in line with industry standards.

Almost 30 MPs signed a Commons motion urging the firm to rethink the policy.

The union has warned that industrial action may be an option in the row.
