From a purely local viewpoint, it's good to see that none of the major rail disasters listed are in the UK - or even elsewhere in Europe in spite of the high density rail network in parts of the continent. Mind you, I would wonder if the biggest disiater of all time - in Sri Lanka, where the Tsunamis swept away a train with 2000, should really be classified as a "rail disaster" or as a natural disaster that involved a railway line and train.  Not that the classification changes the enormity and pain.
