Melksham Town Regeneration
« on: November 08, 2007, 08:41:40 PM »

I note from "Melksham News" that Melksham Town Trust are inviting all to a presentation and discussion on the development opportuunties for Melksham on 22 November at the Assembly Hall. Will 'Save the Train' or MRDG be represented?

'The discussion will cover the town's commercial and employment potential, the prospects for the river area - and perhaps a lake - through the 'emerging' Wilts and Berks Canal restoration: the opportunities for tourism'.

It seems to me a good place to promote save the Train's cause, too.

To my knowledge, the answer is regrettably "no"  ... so far.  That's a Thursday, isn't it?    Evening?  I'm away today (writing from High Wycombe!) but will have a loook at the local paper when I get home....

I am aware that meny of the town's plans such as Melksham First - of which I am a member all be it a somewhat domant one at times - stop either at the end of the shopping area, at the Town Bridge, or at the A350 which excludes the railway.  At times, we comment that the station is too far out and yet I was up in the smaller town of Ely last weekend, and the station there, also out of the centre and with industry around, is vibrant!
