Whe are the trains going? East Midlands
« on: October 10, 2007, 08:35:55 AM »

I understand that the 4 class 153 trains that were used on our line until the service was withdrawn last December will be put back into service in the East Midlands at some stage - that;'s what they're reserved for.  So I guess that's service around places like Derby, Nottingham, Leicester and Lincoln.

Perhaps the politicians in those areas have more clout than ours?  Or is their case for improvements better?

They dont seem too keen on the Class 153's in the East Midlands (link below.)

Quotes :

"This rumour has started doing the rounds at Nottingham over the last few days. If true, then i really fear for the future. There is absolutely no route on East Mid's where you can get away with single coach units with the possible exception of Lincoln-Peterboro. The overcrowding would be horrendous, we can barely get away with 2 car units. Seriously, we'd be better off with nodding donkeys! The delays incurred would also escalate because they just can't keep time!"

"I've said it before, and i'll say it again, that if EMT are short of units, then wait for the 180's to become available, get them on the Liverpool-Norwich's, thus solving all the overcrowding problems on that route, and leaving plenty of 158's to be cascaded to the other routes, supplementing the 156's and maybe even allowing them to get rid of the 153's altogether, which are good for nothing at all, and only came about to make 142's look GOOD!"
