Peak Time For Train Travel In The UK
« on: September 22, 2007, 11:37:00 AM »

UK rail travel is expected to reach a post-war high , the Association of Train Operating Companies (Atoc) has said (link below.)
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7007461.stm

Last year , passengers travelled 45.6bn kms on the railways - 6.5% more than in 2005 , Atoc figures show.

Growth so far this year has been 7% , meaning the 1946 record of 47bn kms may be surpassed if it continues.

Britain has the fastest growing railway in Europe with 3.15m passengers every day , says Atoc , despite complaints over fares and overcrowding.
