A new transport strategy calls for improved road and rail links to Northants as the county faces plans for 100,000 new homes over 14 years (link below.) http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/northamptonshire/6980388.stmAs well as making the London rail line faster , the strategy wants to improve Northampton's rail service to Birmingham and North-West England. It also want to improve rail access to London from Corby , Kettering and Wellingborough in Northamptonshire. On bus transport , the strategy says with the level of growth proposed in the county , for buses to retain their existing share of journeys , an increase of 60% in passenger journeys would be required by 2021 (compared to 2001). I read an interesting related FOI link recently. http://www.dft.gov.uk/foi/responses/2007/august/northamptonshiretransport/
