New Eurostar record and inaugural journey
« on: September 04, 2007, 03:18:24 PM »

Oh to be able to get to North Wiltshire in two hours!

Interesting to read about the near completion of the new high-speed rail link from St Pancras, London to Paris, Gare du Nord.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/6977211.stm

It cost almost £6bn owing to the fancy engineering required to have it start in St Pancras and go over the Medway.

Does anyone know why St Pancras was chosen, apart from the rumour that the authorities of the time preferred it as a station building and its easier links to the north?  I will miss the services from Waterloo.
