After the trumpets, the drum roll of the 28th July publication of the service that we're told we'll have from December, is now a quiet time to reflect and to lick our wounds? Are things going to be quiet through August? No, and no. It's not quiet and it doesn't look like it will get that way either - it might just
look that way.
Last week, I was out on "train business" if you would like to put it like that on two evenings ... quite a few things booked next week and beyond that too. This does not look like a quiet month for me, but some of the things going on are likely to be more effective if they're not shouted about just yet awhile (and even so they may come to nowt and you'll hear nowt).
"Can I help" you may ask. Yes - there's a date for your diary - 4th September - and a time - 05:30. Yes, 5:30 in the morning. The first train after the 10 day closure will be running, and I'll be at Melksham station to catch the 05:52 up to Swindon. Would be great if you - yes
YOU - can join me. Please email (
graham@wellho.net) if you can make it, and I'll have you know that "sorry - I'll be at work" does NOT fit as an excuse for this one

We'll be back in Melksham at 06:56 from Swindon ... ready for a day's work.

(05:37 from Westbury, 05:42 from Trowbridge ... if you're not Melksham based, please board at Westbury or Trowbridge and we'll meet on the train.)
