Assaults On Rail Staff 'Increase'

A rising number of railway staff are being assaulted as they go about their jobs , new crime figures have shown (links below.)

More than 3,000 assault cases were recorded in the British Transport Police (BTP) annual report for 2006/07 - a rise of 8% on the previous year.

Meanwhile , the number of offences taking place on Scotland's railway network has fallen by 6% in the past year. However , the past year also brought rises in assaults on staff , hate crime and incidents of graffiti (link below.)
