Extra Carriages For Barrow Line

Passengers on a popular coastal railway line in Cumbria are to benefit from extra carriages (link below.)

Cumbria County Council and Northern Rail are joining forces to make sure people who use the route between Barrow and Carlisle get a seat.

About three quarters of a million people use the service every year and an influx of summer visitors means many are left standing.

Most trains will now run with two or three carriages instead of one.
