Network Rail has begun a campaign to highlight the dangers of misusing the Oakham level crossing as well as crossings across the East Midlands.

A spokesperson said cyclists and pedestrians were ignoring red lights. A motorcyclist also crashed into descending barriers in Nottingham.

Leaflets urging people not to run the risk will be handed out at crossings.
