No one was hurt in the incident , which has halted services between Ballasalla and Port Erin.

The steam engine was cleared from the scene in the early hours of Monday and a rail replacement bus service is working between the two towns.

The island's Rail Traffic Manager , Glen Davis , said steam train services should return to normal by Tuesday.
