"Glenda Lamont, Customer Services Director, would like to apologise for the delays that customers experienced yesterday and this morning." (link below.)

Quote from the above link :

"Unfortunately yesterday’s high temperature resulted in the failure of a key component at Wootton Bassett Junction, which caused major disruption to services. At no point were customers at risk, and Network Rail worked through the night to rectify the problem. Planned engineering work in this area commencing on August 26th for nine days will ensure future problems are minimised."

Thats alright then.....

I know it to 3 hours to travel from Bristol to Melksham on that Monday.
