Get your partner to drop you at the station and take the train to work
« on: October 01, 2005, 04:07:32 PM »

We're designating Tuesday, 18th October to be "Kiss and Ride" day.

Do you live near Melksham, and commute into Chippenham or Swindon, Trowbridge or Westbury?   Do you find the roads getting busier and busier?   Would your partner like to use the car during the day?

On 18th October, why not try the train?  Get dropped off at the station at 07:30 (for the 07:45 train to Chippenham and Swindon) or at 09:00 (for the 09:12 to Trowbridge and Westbury).    We'll be there serving free cups of coffee, and handing out pocket timetables.  We're hoping that local radio and/or TV will be there too!

There's FREE PARKING available at Melksham too; if you can't get a ride to the station but you'd like to try the service, come along anyway on Tuesday, 18th.    Bring a book to read on the train, or your laptop or papers;  make the 25 minutes into Swindon (that's all it takes) into productive time.

The 07:45 to Swindon and 09:12 to Trowbridge run every Monday to Friday.   Once you've tried this, you'll never want to park in Swindon again!

The return train leaves Swindon at 17:43, Chippenham at 17:59, and reaches Melksham at 18:09
From Westbury, return at 16:47 and from Trowbridge at 16:52, arriving Melksham at 17:02

Been getting the handouts ready, and getting some advertising out there;   it's in a couple of the local papers and I've emailed details out to a lot of people ... I'll be there early.

What's the weather forecast like for Tuesday??

Great turn out - THANK YOU EVERYONE - good to see so many supporters and passengers at the station.  The Swindon train left with about 40 people on board, and the Trowbridge and Westbury trains certainly weren't empty.   Pity we were so busy serving and talking to people that we didn't take many photos ... here are the ones I took after the trains were gone.

Waiting for customers.   Piping hot tea and coffee!!

A chance between trains to tend the gardens.  Gordon, it's looking lovely!

Out publicity sign at the station
