I'll admit to having been a "fan" of this publication for many years ... it's reliable whereas many of the online sites have patently NOT been.    See my posts / articles recently about using online planners from Melksham to Bristol .... so the change takes away the voice of authority ...

Quote from the link you posted, Lee:

"The only people who have been agitated about it have been the train enthusiasts," said a National Rail spokesman. "We're trying to deal with a 21st-century railway, with a fast-growing passenger network."

"Fast growing passenger Network?"   Hmm. Tell that to the users of "TransWilts".  Fast growing passenger usage, shrinking service.

'only railway enthusiasts', That is a sweeping statement,

However, there is one massive reason why the general public (for example in Melksham) don't protest when serivices are cut, that is because when they hear on the news or in newspapers people making such statements they don't for a second question it and they stand by and think they don't have a choice.

First knows this and know that people are passive, if people knew the facts and that things could be done then maybe the railway network would have more services.
