The plans are due to be revealed tommorrow , and the links below give an idea of what to expect.
http://www.rmtbristol.org.uk/2007/07/1300_extra_carriages_to_ease_r.html#more

http://www.rmtbristol.org.uk/2007/07/rail_watchdog_calls_for_review.html#more

http://www.rmtbristol.org.uk/2007/07/railways_overpriced_fares_are.html#more

http://www.rmtbristol.org.uk/2007/07/35_billion_crosslondon_rail_pl.html#more

A couple of quotes give me cause for concern :

"Some £3bn-£4bn could be available annually for Network Rail to operate the railway – less than is currently available, but still a high level historically."

"The Department for Transport dismissed calls for curbing fare increases, which would entail extending the 1%-above inflation price cap on commuter season tickets."

"A spokesman said: "The reality is that 6% of the population travels on railways. So why should people who don't use railways regularly fund the people who do?"

Comments like that get my back up a bit, cant they say something more positive like:

'we need to fund the railways to encourage a higher percentage of people to use them, helping to relieve road congestion and reduce CO2 emmisions'  Smiley
