Firefighters were called to the Avon Valley Railway to find a carriage in flames (link below.)

David Cole , development manager of the railway , said the carriage had been bought by a member , with restoration planned when the group had raised the money.

The carriage was worth around £6,000 in its unrestored state.

Mr Cole said: "From what we understand the fire was notified to Avon and Somerset Fire and Rescue just before four on Saturday morning, and basically the fire service contained and put it out, but unfortunately the carriage, which was from the 1930s, was gutted."

"The coach was in a siding and it appears that somebody deliberately set the carriage on fire."
