From Sky News

It was revealed last week that First Capital Connect had doubled fares for some journeys from St Albans to London, with Government backing, to ease overcrowding.

Not a surprised to me.  Return fares from Melksham to London will rise from 39 pounds to 108 pounds from 10th December when most of the trains (including all day time ones) are withdrawn.

Fare rise 276%.  Train service slashed by 60% - our 'reward' for driving traffic up spectacularly over the past five years.

And, yes, I have asked if there could be a "deroggation" on the London fare from December, but apparently that won't be done because it might be subject to "abuse further up the line". Looks like they're saying they'll penalise the good folks of Melskham because of those naughty people in Chippenham and Swindon  Smiley
