Calls For "Robin Hood" Sunday Service
« on: April 13, 2007, 10:24:59 AM »

People living in north Nottinghamshire are being urged to support a campaign for a Sunday rail service on the Robin Hood Line (link below.)

The county council is lobbying the Department for Transport for funding to secure the service on the line , which runs from Worksop to Nottingham.

A council spokesperson said the authority had taken up the cause as it believed Mansfield , which is served by the line, was the largest UK town without a Sunday railway service.

Jim Bamford , public transport projects manager for the council , said: "We've made the policy case to the Department for Transport. What we need now is to show them that there is lots of public support for it."

It will be most interesting to see how they get on....
