Buses for trains at the weekend - working well today!
« on: September 24, 2005, 02:37:21 PM »

Until 6th November, the Saturday and Sunday train service is replaced by a bus - slower and less convenient, but I do appreciate the need for engineering works on the line.

We have full bus timetable details on the main site.

Historically, bus substitution has been extremely unpopular with a lack of incormation and buses not turning up.  So I thought I would pop along to the station today to see if it's working any better this time.  And - YES - it is!

* There are information posters at the station and at the top of the station approach that include the full weekend bus timetable
* The information point tells us about the bus and when it's due
* The bus turned up and on time too.

Congratulations, Wessex trains - the system seems to be working far better that I've seen ity in the past.  And there was traffic of the road replacement service too.

The 13:50 bus arrived with 18 people on board from Westbury / Trowbridge
1 person got off ...
5 people got on ...
and so it left with 22 passengers going on to Chippenham or Swindon.
