The £300m scheme will include an upgrade of the links between North Lanarkshire and West Lothian and the construction of two stations. (link below.)

The line will see four passenger services an hour between Glasgow and Edinburgh and could be running by December 2010.

As part of the project , stations would be built at Caldercruix and Armadale , and there would be relocated stations at Drumgelloch and Bathgate.

Work to lay double tracks as part of a £300m project to reopen the railway line between Bathgate and Airdrie will be completed in October (link below.)
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/edinburgh_and_east/7412758.stm

Services on the Edinburgh to Glasgow and Dunblane routes via Linlithgow will be affected for a five-day period in October and two weekends.

The Bathgate line will also require alterations to services on several weekends during the summer and autumn.

There will be a two-week closure in July and a 10-day closure in October.
