A strategy aimed at improving road , rail , air and ferry links to and from the Highlands and Islands has been agreed by a statutory transport body (link below.) http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/highlands_and_islands/6484483.stmIt includes upgrades to the A9 , A96 and Inverness-Edinburgh rail line & the first phase of improvements would cost £168m. Elsewhere in Scotland , campaigners have called for a new rail link connecting the north and south Strathclyde networks to be made an "urgent priority" (link below.) http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/glasgow_and_west/6494737.stmBusiness leaders , transport experts and politicians have joined together to launch the Crossrail Glasgow project. The £120m scheme would build a line crossing the city centre , connecting stations in the north and south.
