He points out that because of the large number of new housing developments in Portishead, the population is expected to rise to over 28,000 in coming years - making it the largest town in the country without a rail link. Under Regional Spatial Strategy, Melksham will rise to around to around 32,000 ... which is to confirm that BOTH need an appropriate rail link!
