Improvement on lateness!!!
« on: January 29, 2007, 04:16:59 PM »

The 07:17 was late again this morning (9 mins).  Where's the improvement?  Well the information point instead of the usual anouncements of 'the next train in the direction of Chippenham will be the 07:17' until 07:17 and then 'the next train from this station is not in the next 99 min' we got the train is delayed by 4 mins.  Not correct but an improvement!!

Hi Dawn Sion Here see below copy of reply to e-mail to Alison Forster re the infopoint at Melksham to an e-mail sent re 23/1/07 :

In relation to your question about the information system at Melksham.  The train was on time from Trowbridge, which is why the help point announced the train as running on time. Unfortunately the train was then delayed approaching Melksham because of a freight train that was occupying the single line. By the time TRUST had reported the delay, the train should have theoretically departed from Melksham, so the system was just looking for the next train. The system was working correctly, unfortunately the delay occurred immediately prior to the Melksham stop, and this is a quirk of the system.

I agree that the information at the Station could have been better, we know that the automated system needs upgrading and this is something we will be doing as part of the franchise.

This may not advise why today was wrong.
