Petition to PM for an adequate, reliable train service closes 7.2.07
« on: January 20, 2007, 11:51:27 AM »

"We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to provide a reliable train service with adequate capacity at times that travellers wish to make journeys from Swindon to Westbury, Bristol to Severn Beach, Portsmouth and Weymouth to Cardiff, Taunton to Cheltenham, Swindon to Cheltenham. This includes all intermediate stations and journeys in both directions."

Petition on the PM's web site - run by the government, government comes back with an real answer by email to each person who signs up.

The TransWilts service (Swindon, Chippenham, Melksham, Trowbridge, Westbury, Warninster, Salisbury) is at the forefront of this campaign, and we're intentionally making what we believe is a very reasonable request - for an adequate number of trains to meet passenger requirements, reliable and with reasonable capacity for now and into the future.

As I write this, we're into our third full day, and we're in the top 150 of over 2000 petitions.  Which rather shows how important people regard it!   I wanted to see how we compared to others started at the same time - and the right most column is signatures to date.   Not too bad ;-)
