Several e-mails to Michael Ancram , no replies as yet.....

It has been suggested that this is because I live outside of the Devizes constituency.

Not yet, still waiting for a response from James Gray.  I am confident he will do however as I have spoken to and had emails / letters from him in the past.
Going back to last year everytime I emailed an MP other than my own I usually always got a response asking for my address and informing me that they could only help their own constituents.

I now have a response from my MP - David Heath.

He's Lib Dem - and I shall give you all his response in full when I have time.

His basic points are that he has had many letters already about this issue - being a Lib Dem his view is very much that this is a government issue that should have stayed in their power (i.e non-privatisation).

He has tried to contact FGW - but with no adequate response.

I have had a reply from James Gray.

Basically he says that he notes that I have been in touch with Wiltshire County Council and FGW about my corncerns with the current timetable and my request for a 2 hourly service and to let him know how they respond.  He will then be able to take further action on my behalf if required.  Well I hope its not required but either way I will contact him again once it becomes clearer what the likely outcome of things are for Trans Wilts after the current consultation input has been considered.

Please see separate thread but I have written twice to Salisbury MP Robert Key and he has responded very quickly.

He will be writing on behalf of his FGW passenger constituents to the Minister responsible (unnamed) for service level agreements with rail operators.  He will write again to inform of the result. He also says he has signed two motions.

I note that although 8 MPs including 2 lib-dems have signed the petition at http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/wessextrains/, David has not yet done so.

To be fair to David Heath , he is actively pushing our petition (see link below.)

That's good and fair comment, Lee .... I'm running out of Kb in my head to remember who's said and done what, and I asked purely on the basis of searching the signatures.

Save the Train was the campaign to bring an approriate train service back to and through Melksham.

Most big contributors are still around writing at the Coffee shop forum where new members are very welcome.

The train has been saved - sort of - we have stepped back up from an unusable service to a poorish one but it's doing very well. We did that through setting up the TransWilts Community Rail Partnership. That fulfilled its early objectives; it has been taken over by local and regional government types who are now doing medium and long term work. The team from this forun can also be found at the Melksham Rail User Group (which was the Melksham Rail Development Group at the time these articles were written and we had no users.

We mustn't loose sight, though, that the train service remains poor and needs our community support in marketing and campaigning to keep it going in a positive direction ... and all the more so when we're expecting to find a different normallity once we get out of the Coronavirus Pandemic and head for zero carbon via the climate crisis. Yes, it's saved ... it's now a key community facility ... the need for enhancement and the strong and near-universal local support remain, and the rail industry and goverment remain slow to move and provide the enhancements even to level us up with other towns. Please support the Melksham Rail User Group - now very much in partnership rather than protest with the rail industry and local government, including GWR, TransWilts and unitary and town councils. And please use the trains and buses, and cycle and walk when you can.
