Virgin Bids To Run East Coast Rail Route

Sir Richard Branson has joined the battle to run East Coast rail services with confirmation that Virgin Trains will bid for the key route between London and Yorkshire (links below.)

Virgin CrossCountry managing director Chris Gibb said the East Coast bid would be a 50/50 partnership with Stagecoach.

First Group is also bidding , while GNER is still said to be considering its options.

Sir Richard Branson is also supporting calls from airlines for the non-stop Gatwick Express rail service to be saved (link below.)
