Community Support / Community Rail Partnership?
Swindon - Chippenham - Melksham - Trowbridge - Westbury
Onward to Dilton Marsh, Warminster and Salisbury
Also onward to Frome.

This line links the five largest population centres in Wiltshire, and could provide a superior alternative (faster, greener, more convenient) that bus and bus / rail combinations. To be viable, this alternative service needs to run at the time people wish to travel, and be reliable.

Current service - just 2 trains per day (06:19 and 18:42 off Swindon). Proposals for the timetable from December 2007 show a service every 2 hours (1 gap of 3 hours) with trains appopriately timed to meet most of the identified traffic flows.

I have been in correspondence with First and the Department for Transport over this service; in recent letters from the DfT, the importance of community support and the possibility of Community Rail Designation has been raised. To explore local support I am asking EVERYONE (organisations and individuals) who would consider offering assistance in any way to come along to Well House Manor for a 19:30 meeting on Monday, 5th March. I already have a number of acceptances to hand.

I WILL attend the meeting on 5th March
I will not be able to attend on 5th March, but I would like to consider supporting the initiative. Please give my apologies, and send me an update after the meeting.
I do not wish to consider supporting the initiative.
